Every day, it feels like the number of people affected and the extent to which our communities were devastated grows. We are receiving more and more information through our staff - at times it feels like a constant flow of text messages, phone calls, and emails, identifying names of family members of our staff, our community partners who are missing, have lost a loved one, whose homes and business were washed or blown away, lack food and water, are concerned about their safety... the list goes on. The depth and breadth of the situation just continues to grow. Just this morning, we jotted some ballpark estimates of the costs it will take to help our 60+ staff and 6000+ community partners recover from this disaster - helping them put a roof over their heads and rebuilding their businesses will not be an easy task!

But when we are discouraged, God pours His grace upon us through you. So many of you have encouraged us through your messages, emails, prayers, and financial contributions. When the challenge seems impossible, we are floored by the tremendous support we have and continue to receive from you. God is so good to us. We are so thankful for your care and concern and support and partnership.

We were excited to receive the first $13,000 raised from this campaign, just 48 hours after it began. Thank you! These funds will be used immediately to purchase food, water, medicine, flashlights, and solar lamps that we will bring to the affected areas. The solar lamps double as cell phone chargers which will prove very useful as it will take weeks and months before electricity is restored in many areas.
